Lawyers change agents course meets again (this time in person!)

The School for Peace Posted on 16/06/2020 by nswassfp18/06/2020
Prof. Oren Yiftachel

June 5, 2020: Our lawyers change agents course met again – this time in person, and not just online.

The group hosted Prof. Oren Yiftachel for a lecture and talk on “Power and Geography.” Prof. Yiftachel offered a detailed portrait of Jewish supremacy between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River, while focusing on land resources. Prof. Yiftachel proposed the analytical framework of settler colonialism to understand the dynamics of relations between the two national groups.

After presenting the theoretical framework for understanding the reality on the ground, Prof. Yiftachel also presented a common vision for the two peoples and the means of realizing it through a joint struggle.

After the lecture, the group members talked with Prof. Yiftachel and each other about the possibilities of managing the divisions between the national narratives.
