Environmental Justice course 2019-2020 – final session

The School for Peace Posted on 01/01/2021 by nswassfp01/01/2021

We managed to conduct the final session of the course in person, though only seven participants, of which six were Jews and one Palestinian, were in attendance.

It was very exciting for us finally to meet face-to-face.

In the first unit we discussed the issue of entrepreneurship in the field of environment and environmental justice and the issues each of us would like to promote.

In the second unit we conducted an in-depth summary of the course. The participants shared their disappointment about the thinning participation, particularly by the Arab participants; “the absent dialogue”. Does this dwindling participation reflect the reality outside, and if so, what does it say about it?

At the same time, the participants said that the lectures were fascinating all the way through, and the age differences of the members contributed a lot to a fruitful and fascinating discourse. So, along with disappointment, there was also a feeling that we had obtained many gifts from this special course, thanks to the School for Peace and this new online platform.

At the end, we handed out the participation certificates. The group made suggestions on ways to continue to meet and engage in dialogue. And the participants asked the SFP to examine how we might create a corrective experience that involves a fruitful and balanced dialogue.

We concluded with an enjoyable and delicious lunch, and said our goodbyes, leaving with a “taste for more”.

Thanks to our brave participants, this group of strong and interesting women, who expressed so much caring and desire to change what is happening in the world and our corner of it.

We wish them lots of success.
