PUBLIC DECLARATION:
PLANNERS AGAINST THE ANNEXATION PLAN!
We, the undersigned, planners, architects and geographers, hereby express our strong opposition to the annexation of Palestinian territories planned by the Israeli Government. In our opinion this unilateral move, which contravenes international law, is likely to cause deep changes with severe consequences to the local Palestinian population. The planned annexation prevents the establishment of a sustainable Palestinian state and the fulfilment of the Palestinian right for self-determination. The planned step deeply violates our professional ethics and the principles on which we were educated, such as safeguarding civil and human rights, equity, spatial justice, public participation, as well as the delivery of equal opportunities and services to all. The planned annexation constitutes a destructive move from a planning perspective, to which we are totally opposed. At the same time, we stress the urgent need to plan the areas in question according to the principles of democracy, equality and professional ethics.
