Last meeting for Israeli and Palestinian mental health professionals course

The School for Peace Posted on 04/08/2019 by Ira Elan15/10/2019

‎

Mental health professionals course for qualifying conflicted groups facilitators and change agents ended on 22.06.19 with a certificate awarding ceremony at Talitha Kumi, Beit Jala. Throughout the weekend meeting participants shared their emotive personal reflections.

Jewish participants talked about their visceral experience and how their awareness has increased toward the other and their decision to remain being active.

Palestinian participants from Israel talked about their special meeting with Palestinian from the Palestinian Authority which enriched them also their meeting with a special group of Jews that made them rethink their attitude toward the other. Palestinian participants from Palestine talked about their experience of being in a place where they can share their thoughts openly in front of the other, although sometimes it was challenging for Jewish participants but they showed willingness to listen and talk.

Participants also highlighted central topics they learned about conflicted groups facilitation. After personal reflections participants joined a panel led by former minister Mr. Ashraf Ajramy and Knesset member from Meretz Mossi Raz who analyzed the current political situation and talked about ideas of activism. On the next day participants talked about the process of becoming group facilitators and share their ideas of how we can improve the course. We believe that most of this course participants will attend more Palestinian-Jewish meetings in the future.
