The Palestinian-Israeli literature in translation anthology project continues. USAID-funded change agents course: Preparing the first course for psychologists and social workers and recruiting the group. Preparation of the second course for health professionals. February 1, 8, 15, 22, Women in a Time of Change for women from Kafr Kasem and Rosh Ha‘ayin . 5-7: A youth encounter program: Al Muhalas and Hareali. 9, 23: Teachers course, Al Muhalas and Hareali. 10-11: A workshop for the candidates for residency at NS/WAS: 36 participants, 18 Jews and 18 Palestinians. 12-14: A youth encounter program for Ilabun and Brenner high schools. 19-21.2: Youth encounter program for high schools from Acre. 15-19: USAID-funded change agents course for Israeli & Palestinian psychologists and social workers with Hewar. First part: Experiential part. Literary anthology: continuation. USAID-funded change agents course: Preparation and recruitment of the second course for health professionals. March 2-4: Working conference in Jordan for the EU-sponsored media professionals project, with CCRR. 7, 14, 21, 28: The academic course at Tel Aviv university continues. 7, 14, 21, 28: Women in a Time of Change for women from Kafr Kasem and Rosh Ha‘ayin . With the School of Social work at TAU. 9, 23, 30: Teacher course, Al Muhalas and Hareali. 8-12: USAID-funded change agents course for Israeli & Palestinian health professionals (doctors/nurses) with Hewar. First part: Experiential part. 27-28: A weekend workshop for the participants of Women in a Time of Change at NS/WAS. 31: Uni-national meeting for the Israelis in the USAID change agents course for psychologists and social workers, with 14 participants (13 Israeli Jews and one Arab). On March 24, there was a uni-national meeting of the Palestinian participants in Ramallah. And on March 29, there was a planning meeting, Nava Sonnenschein and Muhammad Joudeh. April 4 Delegation from the health professionals change agents course met with the director-general of the Palestinian Ministry of Health to discuss research survey of diabetes . 4 TAU women‘s course, meeting: Women in a Time of Change, Kafr Kasem and Rosh Ha‘ayin, with TAU School of Social Work. 16 Arabs and 10 Jewish women. 6 Imagine: At a Jerusalem conference called "Imagine - Expression in the service of humanity: Creative approaches to dealing with conflict in groups," Dr. Nava Sonnenschein presented a paper on "Processes of majority group identity formation during a Jewish-Palestinian encounter." 6-9 Media and the Conflict: Concluding session, for the staffs of the SFP and the CCRR-Wifaq; held in Istanbul. 18 staff members from both organizations. 6 Hareali and Al Muchalas teachers‘ course: continues with 8 Arab theachers and 9 Jewish teachers. 11 Uni-National meeting, Al Muchalas / Reali teachers’ course. 20-26 Change agents in training: Second part of the joint Hewar -SFP psychologists and social workers / change agents course, held in Istanbul: 18 participants from Israel, and 18 participants from Palestine. 28 Israeli change agents meet: A meeting for the group from Israel who participate in the change agents course for health professionals. 29 Friends: Annual General Meeting, Associations of Friends of NSWAS from around the world; at NSWAS. Monograph: Research Center publishes report on Youth Encounter Program research project by Dr. Rabah Halabi and Michal Zak, in English. May 2 Friends and guests: One-day workshop at NSWAS for guests of the British and American Friends of NSWAS, focusing on their relationship to the conflict: 22 participants. 4 Lecture on SFP‘s approach to encounter work, by Michal Zak, for 20 students from dialogue course at Tel Hai College. 4 Al Muchalas / Reali High School teacher’s project Continues. 10-14 Second change agents course for health professionals – conducted in Istanbul by Hewar and SFP, for 18 Palestinian and 15 Israelis participants. 17-18 Overnight: Workshop and overnight stay at NSWAS for the Kafr Kasem and Rosh Ha‘ayin participants in the Women in a Time of Change course given jointly with TAU. 30 Change agents in action: An implementation meeting for the public health action team from the course for health professionals. There were 6 participants from Israel. June 5 Canadian guests: The SFP hosted guests from Carleton University, Canada. 6 Change agents visit Ramallah: A visit to the Medical Relief Prevention and Diagnostic Center of Cardiovascular Diseases in Ramallah; building options for cooperation with the health professionals course participants. 7-11 Media Change agents: first SFP-Hewar workshop for media people, in Aqaba; with 18 participants from Israel, 14 Jews and 4 Palestinian, and 12 Palestinians from Palestine. 16 Change agents in action: A medical day in Jayyous, West Bank, organized by health professionals from the change agents course. There were 13 doctors and nurses from the Israeli side, in cooperation with the NS/WAS Humanitarian Aid Project (HAP), plus 4 from the Palestinian side; together they treated 50 patients. 16-17 Screening: Workshop for NSWAS resident candidates screening committee; 18 participants. 13 Haifa through Palestinian eyes: Last meeting of the course for teachers from Al Muchalas School in Nazareth and Hareali HS in Haifa. The participants organized a tour of Haifa from the Palestinian perspective. 16 Visit behind the wall: A visit to Kufer Qadum, West Bank, organized by the psychologists and social workers change agents course. To protest the damages of the occupation on the village’s life. There were 17 from the Israeli side. Some 30 Palestinians from Qadum including the mayor of Qadum, and the deputy mayor. 19 Presenting: At an international conference entitled "From Conflict to Peace in the Public Sphere: Peace Education, Media and Discourse" at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Ms. Michal Zak and Dr. Rabah Halabi presented their research on "Youth Encounters at the School for Peace 2000-2003." -- Monograph: Research Center publishes report on Youth Encounter Program research project by Dr. Rabah Halabi and Michal Zak, in Hebrew. 20 . 10 . 2009 - International Training Course for Facilitating Groups in ConflictThe aim of this course is to train participants to work as facilitators of groups in conflict using a unique model for facilitation developed at the internationally recognized conflict management program at School for Peace at Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam in Israel.
