International Training Course for Facilitating Groups in Conflict

The School for Peace is a unique educational institution offering Jewish-Arab encounter programs in the spirit of Neve Shalom/ Wahat al Salam.
Driven by the quest for a truly humane, egalitarian and just society, our goal is to develop participants’ awareness of the conflict and their role in it, and enable them to probe and construct their identity through interaction with the other. This includes uni-national and bi-national programs offered to a variety of groups from different sectors.

The Course is intended to train facilitators, and those interested in conflict resolution methods, to work with groups in conflict through special working methods developed in Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam (NSWAS) and the School for Peace based on over 30 years of experience in the field.
Course Components
The Course consists of five parts. The first will be Dialogue as an experiential intensive inter-group workshop (4 days, 8 hours a day). The second, an Analysis of the groups’ process. The third, Learning theories on group process in the context of conflict groups by guest lectures. The fourth, Peer Facilitation, which will help participants acquire facilitating skills through practical experience. And the last, an Encounter with the Israeli reality by a tour.
Requirements for Registration
The course is intended for professionals who have background in group work, social psychology, political activism, conflict resolution, and education. Please send your c.v. and a short paragraph explaining your interest in the training.
Fees -$2,500
The fees include: The whole program, learning materials, accommodations, (two in a room, for a single room there is an additional fee of $400), use of the community swimming pool and three meals a day between July 6 and July 18, 2010. The fee does not include airfare, travel from airport, insurance, and extras).
Important
The training staff is composed of the senior staff members of the School for Peace, as well as guest lecturers who are experts in the field.
A minimum of ten participants is required in order to
conduct the course.
Last date for registration is January 31st.
The program may be subject to slight changes.
Participants are responsible for making their own travel arrangements to/from Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam.
The course will be conducted in English.
